ActionPPE

The record of the pandemic PPE mobilization, and a working reference for the practices that lived it.

Method

Reviewed August 2026First published.

This page describes how the articles on this site are made. It is a description of practice, not a set of pledges.

Sourcing

Articles cite primary standards and agencies by name: NIOSH and the Certified Equipment List, CDC, OSHA and the Code of Federal Regulations (42 CFR Part 84, 29 CFR 1910.134), FDA regulations and guidance, ASTM standards, and peer-reviewed studies identified by their database identifiers. Attribution carries the assertion: sentences read "NIOSH's Certified Equipment List shows…" or "29 CFR 1910.134(f) requires…", so a reader can check the source rather than trust the paraphrase.

Historical articles in The Record rest on dated Wayback Machine captures and contemporaneous published coverage; capture dates appear alongside the facts they support. Where the archival record is silent or ambiguous, the article says so.

Settled and unsettled

Guidance about respiratory protection changes. Where a claim touches guidance that is being revised or reorganized, the article carries a brass-bordered "Guidance in flux" note that states what is settled, what is pending, and links the live source. Every page footer links the NIOSH Certified Equipment List as the live record of approvals.

Reviewed dates and changelogs

Every article carries a "Reviewed" line with the month and year it was last checked against its sources, and a one-line changelog. Corrections replace the text in place and are noted in the changelog with the date; superseded claims do not remain on the page.

Scope

Articles describe standards, procedures, and the historical record. They are not medical advice, and no article promises a clinical or protective outcome; selection and use of PPE in a practice is governed by the employer's own hazard assessment and the standards cited. Errors reported through the contact form are checked against the sources and corrected as described above.
